The Accessible Books Consortium (ABC) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2025 ABC International Excellence Awards for Accessible Publishing. These awards recognise outstanding achievements in advancing accessibility in the publishing industry for people with print disabilities.
In the publishing category, this year’s award goes to DADO Editorial Sensorial, based in Colombia. DADO Editorial Sensorial has been recognised for its innovative and inclusive publishing model that integrates creativity with accessibility. The organisation’s mission is to expand cultural participation for people with print disabilities in Colombia and beyond, through sustainable and impactful publishing practices.
In the initiative category, the award is presented to the Accelerating Publishing Accessibility through Collaboration in Europe (APACE) project. Coordinated by Fondazione LIA (Italy), APACE brought together the Publishers’ Associations of Italy, Germany, and Bulgaria, along with three specialized libraries serving people with print disabilities: Dedicon (Netherlands), Celia Accessibility Library (Finland), and the Lithuanian Audiosensory Library. The project exemplifies the power of collaboration across borders to advance accessibility in publishing.
Elisa Molinari, Coordinator of APACE and Project Manager at Fondazione LIA, accepted the award on behalf of the seven project partners and commented:
“Accessibility succeeds when we work together. APACE has created a strong European network that helps publishers and libraries face the challenges of accessibility with confidence and purpose. This award celebrates our shared commitment to ensuring that every reader has equal access to books.”
IAF congratulates both winners for their leadership and dedication to accessible publishing. Their work serves as an inspiration to the global publishing community and a reminder of the importance of inclusive practices that leave no reader behind.
