The International Authors Forum (IAF) is thrilled to inform readers that the Accessible Books Consortium (ABC) is now accepting applications from organisations in developing countries for training and technical assistance on how to produce books in accessible formats for people who are blind, visually impaired, or otherwise print disabled.
According to a 2017 study published in The Lancet, approximately 90% of the world’s blind or visually impaired people live in developing countries. The absence of easily accessible books remains a significant obstacle to receiving an education and having an independent, productive life.
Interested organisations can find all the information regarding the application on the ABC Consortium website accessiblebooksconsortium.org.
All applications should be sent at Accessible.Book@wipo.int by Friday, October 20, 2023.
