The International Authors’ Forum (IAF), in collaboration with our host La Sofia, organised a highly successful Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the 11th and 12th of March at La Maison de la Poésie in France. The event featured three thought-provoking panels addressing key issues affecting authors in the digital age.

The AGM offered a moment to reflect on our achievements, while reiterating our ongoing commitment to organising activities and initiatives that continue to support authors globally. Moving forward, IAF remains fully dedicated to supporting authors’ rights around the world, ensuring their work is protected and respected.

The panels, titled Author Rights in the Second-Hand Book Market, Global Perspectives on AI Regulations, and AI Rights and Licensing in the Digital Age, offered invaluable insights into the changing landscape regarding authors’ rights and intellectual property. One of the key topics explored was the impact of the second-hand book market in France on authors’ earnings and creative work, an issue that cannot be overlooked. Furthermore, the panels explored the evolving relationship between authors’ rights and artificial intelligence. Our panellists shared their expertise regarding this hot topic, fostering engaging discussions on the challenges and opportunities authors face as AI and GenAI continue to transform the creative industry.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all the panellists and members who participated in the event, both in person and online, for their invaluable contributions. Their expertise is essential in advancing these crucial discussions and ensuring that authors’ voices remain at the forefront of conversations surrounding intellectual property in the digital era.

For those unable to attend or who wish to review the discussions, the panel recordings and IAF’s official position on AI will soon be available on our YouTube channel and in the Member Zone on our website.
