IAF attended the 48th Session of World Intellectual Property Organization’s Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) in Geneva, with both in-person and online participation.
IAF delivered statements on several items, such as Exceptions & Limitations, Digital Environment, Artists’ Resale Right, and the proposal from Cote D’Ivoire for a Study on the Rights of Audiovisual Authors and their Remuneration for the Exploitation of their Works.
IAF participated at two different side events on the sidelines of the SCCR, one about educational licensing organised by IFRRO and another one organised by IPA on the impact of copyright on publishing in Africa and Latin America. Professor Sihawukele Ngubane, chair of our member ANFASA in South Africa, was invited as a guest speaker to both events, reflecting his perspective as an author himself.
IAF will continue to monitor international developments of interest and will continue working with WIPO on specific issues of common interest.
